Migori County Administration Earns High Approval Rating in Latest Performance Index
Over 65 per cent of Migori residents have said they support the development agenda of Governor Ayacko, a survey has revealed.
The Infotrak Research and Consulting firm in a 2024 survey on county and national leaders’ performance index survey released in Nairobi gave Ayacko’s administration a favourable ranking.
In the question asked “Focusing on Development, how would you compare your county of residence now and before the introduction of devolution in 2013?,” 65 per cent of respondents said it was better than before.
Only 25 per cent said it was worse off, while 10 per cent said it was the same than before.
While picking an award from the firm at Norfolk Hotel, Migori county secretary Dr. Oscar Olima and Assistant Deputy Director of Public Communication Denice Wasike said the major improvement showed the faith residents had in the governor.
“We thank Migori residents for this recognition and we will continue to be committed in improving our services to benefit all,” Olima said.
The 65 per cent improvement is stronger than the 57.6 percent approval rating the governor got at the ballot when he was elected on his maiden term as a governor during the August 2022 general elections.
Ayacko was declared the winner by the Migori County Returning Officer and Election’s Manager Ben Moseti after garnering 175, 226 votes flooring John Pesa of DAP-K who came second with 126,171 votes this translated into a 49,050 vote margin.
In that election, Moseti said only 64.9 percent of registered voters turned up for the county election which represented 304,415 voters against a total of 469, 053 registered voters.
That means that at the ballot, 57.6 per cent of voters backed Ayacko while Pesa had 41.4 per cent with the other candidates sharing 1 per cent with spoilt votes.
The recent survey shows that Ayacko has gained 7.4 per cent two and half years after the last general elections.
