Migori County residents have been persuaded to exercise peaceful engagements for transformative developments in the county.

Speaking at St. Francis Wiga Girls secondary in Suna West Constituency – Migori County, Suna West legislator Peter Masara called on the residents to embrace a peaceful coexistence for an inclusive development.

The MP who commissioned 8.5 Million worth of school bus commended the positive progress of education sector in the constituency attributing it to the supportive communities around the schools.

He said that a peaceful society will always attract development, urging them to always be at the forefront of peacebuilding.

“I am glad that as a sub county, we have moved from position eight to position two among the secondary schools in the County in terms of academic performance,” he said.

He also unveiled office vehicle that will be key in facilitating the movement of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) project officers to supervise the progress of the projects.

Masara said that the positive deviation was because of a delocalized system of staff deployment to allow the teachers, supported by the communities around to allow them fully impart on learners.

He said that St. Francis Wiga Girls, is one of the noticeable development footprints that the sub county enjoys which is a product of a collaborative efforts of his administration and the community around.

He however, warned the rogue members of the public to refrain from their intentions to scuffle the development efforts, telling them that the intention is to secure a safe future for the next generation.

“I am calling on the opposition to criticize objectively by giving credits where it is due while giving a right direction for us to move uniformly,” he said.

He sub county ODM patron said that a society that is destined for progress must first start by embracing the leaders and be ready to work closely with them while lobbying for development projects.

While at it, he called on the residents to embrace the new ODM leadership from the grassroots to the County level, noting that they play an intermediary role between the leaders and the electorates.

“Any community that wants to progress must identify with their leaders and allow them to fully perform their roles, with criticism where necessary,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Member of County Assembly for Wiga ward Kelly Olongo who commended the electorates for being peace lovers that has ensured a positive transformations at the ward level.

The host MCA donated five packets of sanitary pads as an effort to make the ladies comfortable in their academic pursuits as well as curbing the period poverty among the ladies during their menses.

The MP’s call for a peaceful coexistence follows a scuffle that broke during the visit of ODM party leader, Raila Odinga in Migori, where hell broke loose between youths from different political camps.

He noted with great concern, the role of the religious society, calling on them to be at the forefront of mitigating peace being a voice that represent peace.

Ms. Rose Wanga, Principal of St. Francis Wiga Girls School commended the MP noting that the school bus will be key in the academic and non-co-curricular development of the students, especially in games and sports.
