The staff and children of Saidia Furaha Children’s Home, along with the family and friends of the late Mr. Peter Karuri Migwi, gathered today at his residence in Othaya to celebrate his life and legacy. The memorial service marked the third anniversary of his passing, and served as an emotional reflection on the profound impact he had on the lives of vulnerable children in the community.
Dr. Denise A.O. Kodhe, Chairman of Saidia Furaha Children’s Home, delivered a moving tribute to the late Karuri, remembering him as a man of great integrity, kindness, and dedication. She emphasized that his commitment to supporting orphans and vulnerable children would remain an enduring part of the institution’s history.
“Peter Karuri was a man of great honesty and compassion. His sacrifices and contributions to the well-being of children in need will forever be a cornerstone in the foundation of Saidia Furaha Children’s Home,” Dr. Kodhe said. “His selflessness and good-hearted nature made a lasting difference, not just to the institution, but to the countless children whose lives he touched.”
The memorial service was also attended by Mr. Katsumi Arakawa, a key supporter of the institution, as well as the children from Saidia Furaha, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Karuri family for organizing the event. The ceremony, though a solemn occasion for the family, was equally significant for the children who continue to benefit from the legacy left by the late Karuri.
The late Peter Karuri Migwi, who was one of the founding members of Saidia Furaha Children’s Home, passed away three years ago after a prolonged illness. His vision of a safe haven for orphaned and vulnerable children led to the establishment of the home, which has provided shelter, education, and care for countless children over the years.
In his tribute, Dr. Kodhe, alongside the children and supporters of the home, noted that the work and vision of Mr. Karuri would continue to guide the institution forward, ensuring that his legacy lives on through the work being done for the children he cared for deeply.
“His contribution continues to inspire us,” said Dr. Kodhe. “It is a reminder to all of us of the power of kindness and how one person’s efforts can create lasting change in the lives of others.”
The late Mr. Karuri’s passing, though a great loss, is marked by the enduring difference he made in the lives of many. Saidia Furaha Children’s Home remains a testament to his dedication, and the children who continue to find hope and opportunity at the institution carry forward his mission.
May the soul of Peter Karuri Migwi continue to rest in eternal peace, as his contributions remain an integral part of the legacy that he leaves behind.
