Treasury Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning CPA John Mbadi has asked Migori residents to stand firmly behind President William Ruto, saying it is the only way to secure continued development in the county and to guarantee his survival in government.
Speaking during a church service at Migori Central SDA in Migori town, Mbadi made a candid appeal to worshippers, declaring that his political future now depended on cooperation with the Head of State.
“I would not wish to go back to campaigns again. I am too big for a Governorship or Parliamentary position. It will be embarrassing to have me go round campaigning again for an elective seat.Let’s support President Ruto so that I retain this seat,” Mbadi said.
He revealed that since his entry into Cabinet, Migori has seen allocations rise from Sh500 million to more than Sh2 billion.
Among the flagship projects are the ongoing works at Muhuru Pier, which will soon host a government ferry linking Kisumu and Muhuru, and the construction of a modern stadium in Migori town.
“Let no one lie to you that Ruto isn’t working. In our region, he is working. After 2027, we will also look for a top seat, and we need friends with our Kalenjin neighbours for future support,” he added.
Governor Ochilo Ayacko praised the President for standing with Migori, saying his administration had worked closely with the church and national government to deliver projects that directly touch people’s lives.
“When I joined this administration, the airstrip had no proper reception, but now we are expanding the terminal. The launch will be done on October 14,” Ayacko said.
He noted that the President had supported the completion of the Suna-Marindi road and assured that the county would also provide land for the Affordable Housing programme.
On the other hand Suna West MP Peter Masara credited the cooperation between President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga for securing key government positions for Migori leaders and attracting more resources to the region.
He listed allocations for the Migori Teachers Training College, money for local connection roads, and Sh400 million earmarked for upgrading the Migori Airstrip.
“We are not leaving this government. We are fully inside, and development is here with us,” Masara declared.
