Joy as Ombaka Secondary school girls receive full year’s fee, sanitary towels from senator Ojienda

School going girls from Ombaka in Nyando constituency in Kisumu county have a reason to smile after Kisumu senator Prof. Tom Ojienda  issued a whole school fees and assorted sanitary towels.
The initiative will see the learners from low income families maintain a high level of hygiene hence bolstering their academic performance.
The senator reiterated his concerted efforts to ensure no student in the county was left out of school due to lack of school fees.
While addressing the students at Nyamasao primary, Prof. Ojienda  called on the students to maintain high level of discipline and hard work so as to be future leaders who will in turn deliver their parents from poverty.
More than 100 students from Ombaka benefitted from the bursary allocation.
 The school was among those affected by the recent flodds that left several families displaced with a trail of destruction  of property being  witnessed.
On the other hand the mama Mboga’s and bodaboda riders from Ogal beach in Kisumu West were also not left out as they were given a sum of 780 thousand to boost their businesses.
Pamela Atito, a beneficiary  of Prof  Ojienda’s SMEs program  called on other women to ensure the monetary donations are put into good use to better their lives.
” I have been a resident of Ogal beach for many years but I have never benefitted from such an innitiative from the political class. This is a positive gesture by our senator and I’m urging other leaders to follow suit,” she said.
Although the senate has limited allocation for development, the extended olive branch, according to  Prof. Ojienda will come in handy in improving the livelihoods of small scale traders and riders within the county/.
” I  am on a mission a mission to improve the lives of the women and youths who are doing small businesses so that to help them put something on the table,” he noted.
The senator  was accompanied by Gender,Culture,Arts Heritage Hon Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa at Ombaka.
Ms Jumwa emphasized the need to have more sanitary towels distributed to the affected learners to improve their academic standards.
“My ministry will supply more sanitary towels across this county and especially to schools that were affected by floods. This will ensure that our girls are retained in school hence keeping then from distractions that has impacted negatively in the past.
