President Ruto Pledges to Strengthen Governance and Focus on Development as Administration Moves Past Political Divisions

President William Ruto has committed to intensifying his administration’s focus on delivering key development promises over the next three years, assuring the nation that his government has moved beyond divisive politics and is now committed solely to progress.

Speaking at a Sunday service at Ekambuli Church of God in Khwisero, Kakamega County, President Ruto reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to unity and development, highlighting significant improvements in the economy, including reduced inflation. He also stressed that the remaining years of his tenure will be centered on tangible development outcomes rather than internal political rivalries.

“We have dealt with the economic issues over the last two years, and the economy is now on track—inflation has dropped,” President Ruto said. “We’ve eliminated the politics of chest-thumping, infighting, and power struggles over political heavyweight status. I assure Kenyans that the remaining years will be focused purely on development.”

In his remarks, President Ruto pointed to the challenges faced during the first two years of his administration, including the impeachment of his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, which he alluded to indirectly in his speech. Reflecting on the need for a cohesive and collaborative approach to governance, Ruto described his government as now being “united” and optimistic about the future.

“We are united as Kenyans and committed to development,” he emphasized, outlining plans for improvements in infrastructure, agriculture, health, and education. He also called on leaders to shift their focus away from regional or factional politics, emphasizing the importance of performance over political rhetoric.

“We do not want politics of infighting or regional coalitions. Leaders should focus on serving the people, and Kenyans will reward performance and reject complacency,” President Ruto declared.

In a bold move aimed at improving healthcare access for all Kenyans, the President defended the newly established Social Health Authority (SHA), which he said would provide comprehensive medical services to every Kenyan citizen. He urged all Kenyans to register for the scheme to ensure equitable healthcare services across the country.

“For the first time in Kenya, we have an insurance scheme that caters to all Kenyans, not just a few,” Ruto said. “I urge leaders to unite with me in educating people on the importance of registering for SHA.”

Ruto also addressed concerns surrounding the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), revealing that his government is actively working to clear a Sh30 billion debt inherited from previous administrations. He urged Kenyans to register for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) to support better planning and service delivery in healthcare facilities.

“The more Kenyans we have enrolled, the better we can plan for drugs, personnel, and equipment. Let us stop complaining and take action,” President Ruto urged.

On education, the President highlighted his administration’s efforts to increase access to higher education for needy students, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting affordable university education for all.

The Sunday service was attended by prominent leaders including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, Nairobi Governor Johnstone Sakaja, Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka, Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Mulongo, and Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.

In his remarks, Mudavadi praised the Parliament for upholding its constitutional role, particularly in light of the recent impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. He called for an end to blackmail in politics and stressed the importance of respecting the Constitution.

“I thank the President for showing he was elected by all Kenyans and for working to unite the country. The President is the one leading the nation,” Mudavadi stated.

As President Ruto looks ahead, his administration remains committed to fostering unity and focusing on development, ensuring that the nation’s future is built on a foundation of inclusivity, progress, and national cohesion.
