Parents in Nyakach Sub-County have been urged to take an active role in financing their children’s university and college education, even as the Nyakach Constituency Bursary Fund continues to provide financial support for needy students.
Speaking during the disbursement of Ksh. 17.5 million in bursary funds to 2,512 university students, Nyakach Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Job Anunda emphasized that while the government remains committed to facilitating education through bursaries, parents must also fulfill their responsibility of paying school fees.
Nyakach Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Chairman Joel Onono reiterated the importance of the bursary initiative in enhancing educational access. He announced that a total of Ksh. 32 million has been allocated to cater to university and college students from Nyakach Constituency.
“We, as Nyakach NG-CDF through Hon. Aduma Owuor, are committed to ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing quality education. Our mission is to achieve a 100% transition to secondary schools and higher learning institutions,” said Mr. Onono.
Constituency Manager Sylvance Ochola commended the students for their patience during the bursary processing period. He assured them that within the next two weeks, all cheques would have been dispatched to universities across the country.
He further stated that the Postal Corporation of Kenya has been contracted to ensure timely and secure delivery of the cheques.
Meanwhile, the Nyakach Students Association, led by Chairman Tobias Osano, expressed gratitude to area MP Hon. Aduma Owuor for his dedication to supporting education in the constituency.
They lauded his efforts in ensuring that all students from Nyakach receive bursaries, enabling them to continue their studies without financial constraints.
