Awendo legislator Walter Owino has vowed to soldier on with his development agenda despite continued onslaught from his critics over his perceived absence.
The MP who returned from India where he had sought treatment had been receiving a backlash from his opponents who attributed his “sick leave” to the infamous finance bill that was recently passed at the National assembly.
Mr Owino’s absence at the peak of a heated debate on the finance bill 2023 elicited mixed reactions from the electorate with some accusing him of deliberately missing out on the contentious bill.
But over the weekend, the MP maintained that he was firmly behind Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition, dismissing critics who attributed his absence to dalliance with the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.
Addressing the constituents at his rural home in Ombasa village where he held thanksgiving prayers, the second term MP maintained that he was focused on delivering his campaign agenda to the people and no form of intimidation from naysayers would stop his quest at making Awendo great.
“I thank God that I’m back on my feet and able to freely mingle with you. My focus this time is to complete several development programs that we had initiated and ensure that more are in pipeline for the benefit of the residents.”

He called on his critics to challenge him on development issues and avoid early campaigns that may derail the gains so far made in the constituency.
“Let you not be swayed by empty rhetoric that I’ve moved to the other wing (Kenya Kwanza), I’m firmly in ODM and will remain such and support the party agenda to the letter,” Mr Owino noted while clearing the air on his perceived absence.
