The Union of Kenya Civil Servants has issued a seven-day notice to the government, warning of imminent industrial action if the second phase of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is not implemented by the end of the week. The CBA’s pay agreement, which was due to be reflected in July’s pay slips, remains unmet. Union Secretary General Tom Odege has criticized the Salaries and Remuneration Commission for suspending the CBA’s implementation, deeming the decision illegal. Odege emphasized that the terms of the agreement had been finalized and were expected to be honored.During the Union’s national conference at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), Odege affirmed that the Union will not engage in further negotiations on the matter. “We are not going to call anyone to the table. What we need is money, and it is rightfully ours. The amount we are seeking is minimal, only Ksh2.7 billion. Let the Minister of Public Service, Justin Muturi, take note,” stated Odege.
